Australian goatmeat exports have reached the second highest volume on record at 33,891 tonnes for 2023, despite a 10% drop in value to $235 million. Despite the majority (around 95%) being exported, the domestic market is also growing, with the Goat Trail campaign aiming to increase awareness and availability of goatmeat. The United States is the largest market, with Mexico and New Zealand also showing demand due to competitive pricing. The growing national herd could further boost domestic use, addressing supply volatility and tapping into the popularity of cuisines that use goatmeat.
