The Brazilian agricultural company, Agropecuária Schio, has made its first apple shipment to Colombia, with support from various stakeholders including producers, company technical staff, state and federal agricultural inspectors, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA). This shipment is crucial due to Colombia's high apple consumption and low domestic production, allowing Brazilian producers to compete with Chile and Argentina. The process involved meeting Colombia's phytosanitary requirements, including pest checks, and was managed by MAPA and the Department of Agriculture. The apples are harvested, processed, packaged, and certified for export by SISV auditors, then shipped with an International Phytosanitary Certificate to countries including Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and now South America.
