The Brazilian Association of Producers and Exporters of Fruits and Derivatives (Abrafrutas) has expressed solidarity with the people of Rio Grande do Sul following severe flooding, the worst in the state's history. The state is a significant producer of various fruits, including apples. Although the majority of the apple harvest has been completed, with only 3% still to be done, the flooding has caused logistical issues, impacting production and distribution. Highways Rota do Sol and BR-116, crucial for transport, have been partially blocked. Despite the challenges, efforts are being made to ensure normal deliveries. Other seasonal fruits like citrus and persimmons, currently in harvest, may also be affected by the flooding.
