Poultry prices have surged due to the avian flu-induced culling of millions of chickens, leading to a record 420.900 ton export of poultry meat from Brazil in January, a 20.6% increase from the previous year, generating US$ 856.6 million in revenue, a 38.9% increase from January 2022. The main destinations for these exports were China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the European Union. Despite the revenue growth, there is still significant pressure from production costs, which could impact future sales. Notably, Brazil has not reported any outbreaks of avian flu.
