Brazil is a major supplier of peppers, particularly black pepper (Piper Nigrum), to the global market, including the Arab League states. In the past five years, exports to the Arab states have seen a significant increase of 47.5% in tonnes and 41.7% in value per year, compared to a smaller increase in exports to other global importers. Espírito Santo is the leading state in black pepper exports in Brazil, followed by Pará and Bahia. The country also produces Capsicum peppers, mainly grown in states like Goiás, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, and Sergipe, with cultivation largely done by small and medium-sized farmers.
