The Brazilian government is in talks with the UK to increase chicken export quotas, with the aim to raise the processed products quota by around 16,000 tons and the in natura quota by around 6,000 tons. Currently, Brazil can export 26,800 tonnes of processed products and nearly 41,000 tonnes of raw protein for processing to the UK. The Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) represents large meatpackers such as BRF and JBS and also announced efforts to start pork exports to Canada. Despite facing a rise in corn and soybean prices, which increase the cost of feed, the chicken and pork production and exports in Brazil are expected to grow.
