In January 2024, Brazil's pork sector experienced a 6.3% decrease in international sales, totaling US$199 million, compared to the same period in 2023. The largest importer, China, saw a significant drop of 44.6% in its imports, amounting to 23,100 tons. Despite this, there was an increase in imports from the Philippines, Chile, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Santa Catarina emerged as the top exporting state in Brazil. Ricardo Santin, the president of ABPA, highlighted a shift in pork export destinations, with a rise in demand from certain Asian countries and the Americas.
