Brazil is the world's second-largest cotton exporter, contributing 20% of the global supply and generating over USD 3.2 billion in revenue in the 2021/2022 market year. The main importers are Asia, led by China, Vietnam, Turkey, and Bangladesh. The quality of Brazilian cotton has been improved through research and technology, thanks to the efforts of industry association Abrapa and export promotion agency ApexBrasil, which runs the Cotton Brazil program. This program has seen exports increase by 15% to US$ 3.4 million by November 2022, with over 70% of this amount coming from companies supported by Cotton Brazil. A new representative office in Singapore is set to further strengthen Brazil's relationship with its priority market.
