A new survey by the Brazilian Peanut Association (Abeex-br) reveals an unprecedented scenario for the sector. The peanut chain moved R$ 18.6 billion between 2024 and 2025, tripled its production over the last decade, and has established itself as one of the most impactful socioeconomic agroindustrial segments in the country. The data are part of the book Mapping and Quantification of the Brazilian Peanut Chain, launched in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo. The study presents a complete x-ray of the sector, from the producer to the exporter, and brings unprecedented numbers from the 2024/2025 crop. According to Abeex-br coordinator, Luís Antônio Vizeu, the leap of Brazilian peanuts began in the early 2000s, when the Campinas Agronomic Institute (IAC) developed varieties with higher oleic acid content, more resistant to pests, and suitable for mechanized harvesting and the demands of both domestic and foreign markets.
