Brazilian tilapia sales abroad reached a historic record in 2021, with 4,285 tons shipped, equivalent to US$ 14 million. The United States was the main destination for exports, followed by China. Lobsters led Brazilian fish exports until December, with a total of 2,921 tons sold at US$ 117 million. The balance of fish trade in Brazil has been improving over the last decade, with exports increasing from 36,000 tons to 50,000 tons and the trade deficit being below $1 billion for the past three years.
