Brazilian tilapia prices climb due to strong demand and robust exports.

A recent survey shows that between November 3-7, the price of tilapia increased by 0.70%-1.94%.

The highest average price for tilapia was in the northern Paraná state, selling at 9.62 reais (about $1.80) per kilogram, a rise of 1.38% from the previous week. This region, as one of the main production areas in the country, has a strong development in its processing industry.

In the Morada Nova (MG) region of Minas Gerais, the price of tilapia was 9.04 reais (about $1.69) per kilogram, up 0.83% from the previous week.

The average price in the Great Lakes region (covering parts of São Paulo state SP and Mato Grosso do Sul state MS) rose to 8.89 reais (about $1.66) per kilogram, an increase of 1.79%.

In western Paraná (the core area of Brazilian aquaculture), the average price was 8.64 reais (about $1.62) per kilogram, with the smallest increase at 0.70%.

According to data from the Brazilian Fish Farming Association (Peixe BR), Brazil is recognized as the world's fourth-largest tilapia producer. In recent years, the country's tilapia exports have grown significantly, reaching a record quantity in 2023, with the United States being the main destination market.

Current market dynamics indicate that both producers and consumers will closely monitor price trends as the year comes to a close.
