A survey by the Small Fruits Observatory in Brescia, Italy, on 07/08/2024, checked 17 sales points of 17 brands across 15 large-scale retail groups. The investigation revealed that while products were in stock and available, there were issues with quality, especially in blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, and currants. Blueberry prices were reported to be low, whereas raspberry prices were high. The number of small fruit references in the stores ranged from 1 to 9, with an average of 4.1 per store. Lidl emerged as the group with the best quality. The pricing varied greatly, with Delizie having the highest average prices and Sunberry and Ponso the lowest for blueberries. Fifty-four percent of blueberry products were found to be packaged in 125g nets.
