The Ministry of Agriculture of Bulgaria has requested the European Union to implement protective measures on the import of Ukrainian honey due to increased volumes entering the market at low prices, negatively impacting local honey sales. The request, backed by Romania, aims to address the challenge of duty-free quotas leading to market problems and to tackle the issue of counterfeit honey in the EU. Hungary, currently leading the EU, has supported the proposal, underscoring the need for action against fake honey and to protect local producers.
