Bulgaria's Minister of Agriculture, Giorgii Takhov, has appealed to the European Commission for protective measures against the import of honey from Ukraine, citing a threat to the sales of local honey. He highlighted that Ukrainian honey enters the European market at low prices, negatively impacting the price of Bulgarian honey and putting local producers in a difficult position. The volume of honey imported from Ukraine to Bulgaria has increased by over 30% in the first ten months of 2024 compared to the previous year. The Minister of Agriculture of Hungary, Istvan Nagy, backed this appeal, emphasizing the need to address the issue of fake honey in the EU market and to provide compensation for competitive disadvantages.
