Recently, the Cambodian government announced plans to export nearly 10 major agricultural products to the Chinese market and to strengthen cooperation with China under the Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) framework.
In mid-October, the second "Belt and Road" Customs Food Safety Cooperation Mechanism Conference was held in Shanghai, where Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia, met with Sun Meijun, Director of the General Administration of Customs of China. During the conference, the Chinese side signed agricultural and food product access cooperation documents with representatives from multiple countries.
Cambodia's key export products include brown rice, pineapple, jackfruit, frozen durian, mango, cooked meat, acorns, and pet food. Both sides committed to accelerating the necessary sanitary and phytosanitary measures to ensure compliance with the agreement and to promote trade.
Currently, Cambodia has gained access for bananas, mangoes, longans, coconuts, and durians to the Chinese customs, with durians being approved for export to China in July of this year. China is the primary destination for Cambodian fruit exports, and under the Belt and Road cooperation framework, more Cambodian fruits will gain access in the future.
