A study by Green Blue Health Pty Ltd in Thailand has found that prawns and barramundi prefer mussels to fish meal. The company is testing diets with mussel meal and other sustainable ingredients like poultry by-product and plant-based ingredients, compared to a fishmeal diet. The results could potentially improve the acceptance of other sustainable protein sources like insects and terrestrial ingredients. The study is being conducted at the CSIRO research facilities at the Bribie Island Research Centre in Queensland, Australia, with results expected in early 2022.
