Canada has imported 4,677 tons of Paraguayan meat at a cost of US$ 21.5 million, with the average price per ton being US$ 4,616. This comes after the Canadian market was officially opened to Paraguayan meat on May 13, following over three years of negotiations. The meat is primarily used in the production of hamburgers in Canada. From January to October, Paraguay has exported 287,943 tons of red protein to 50 countries, generating US$ 1,415 million in revenue. Chile, Taiwan, Brazil, Israel, and the United States have been the main importers of Paraguayan meat.
