Canada becomes the ninth-largest buyer of Paraguayan meat

The Canadian market acquired 4,677 tons of Paraguayan meat for a value of US$ 21.5 million, at an average price of US$ 4,616 per ton. It is important to note that, after almost three and a half years of intense negotiations, the opening of the Canadian market for Paraguayan meat was made official on May 13. The first shipment was made in June and included 26 tons. The meat sector estimated that between 3,000 and 4,000 tons of meat destined for the production of hamburgers in Canada would be exported this year, a projection that has been surpassed. Paraguayan meat exports remain strong. As for annual sales, data from the Senacsa bulletin reflect that between January and October some 287,943 tons of red protein have been placed on the international market, for a value of US$ 1,415 million.
