The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development in Andalusia, Carmen Crespo, is urging the central government to provide aid to the Andalusian fleet affected by the non-renewal of the fishing agreement between the EU and Morocco. She criticizes the Spanish government for only providing subsidies to the Canary Islands fleet and not including Andalusian fishermen. Crespo also calls for proactive negotiations between the EU and Morocco for a new fisheries agreement and suggests that tuna fishing could be a viable alternative for the Andalusian fleet.
