Castile-La Mancha will extend bird confinement throughout the region due to avian flu

The Government of Castilla-La Mancha is going to publish this week an order to extend the confinement of poultry to the 919 municipalities of the region, aimed at containing avian flu, while the measure applied since this Monday by the Ministry affects a total of 18. This was announced at a press conference by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development, Julián Martínez Lizán, who stated that the resolution will be published in the coming days in the Official Gazette of Castilla-La Mancha and is confident that it will be in effect by mid-week. The resolution will mean that no type of poultry, from farms or homes, can have contact with wild birds, although "breeding will be allowed normally, but always separated from direct contact."
