The Generalitat has reinforced its measures this Sunday to contain the outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF), which affects wild boars in the vicinity of Barcelona, and to prevent the virus from entering any pig farms while waiting for the arrival of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) to join these efforts. In recent hours, eight more wild boar carcasses have been found in Cerdanyola del Vallès, near the Collserola park, adding to the six previously discovered, leading the Generalitat to define a perimeter around the outbreak site where activities and access to natural areas have been restricted. These measures affect, to varying degrees, 76 municipalities in the Barcelona area. The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food has reported that tests conducted on the 39 pig farms within the surveillance perimeter have confirmed that the virus has not reached these farms, so this outbreak currently affects only the wild boars in an animal "health alert" context.
