Between January and May of this year, Peru's fruit exports, including avocados and blueberries, saw only slight growth, totaling US$ 1,933 million, a 2.82% increase from the previous year, according to the Foreign Trade Research and Development Institute of the Lima Chamber of Commerce (Idexcam). The United States and the Netherlands were the leading consumers, accounting for nearly 60% of the total export value. Avocado exports experienced a significant surge, becoming the top exported fruit with a value of US$ 517 million, a 20% increase, while blueberry exports also surged, with a 109% increase in value and 49% increase in volume. However, fresh grape exports saw a decline, with a 26.23% decrease in value and 47% decrease in volume. Banana exports also saw an increase, with a value of US$ 53 million after the shipment of 69,444 tons, marking an increase of 13% and 11% respectively.
