Vietnamese provinces, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan, have adopted water-saving irrigation models, including the '1 must 5 decrease' model for rice production and drip irrigation systems for upland crops, helping to reduce water usage, lower production costs, and increase crop productivity. These techniques, part of high-tech and intensive farming practices, have shown initial success in improving the economic well-being of farmers and are being widely adopted in the Central Highlands. The provinces are also experimenting with crops like green asparagus and aloe vera, which are drought-tolerant and profitable, contributing to the greening of bare hills and providing alternative income sources for local communities. These efforts are part of a larger strategy to adapt to climate change, conserve water resources, and enhance the value chain of agricultural products in Vietnam.
