The Monitoring Committee of the PS WPR 2023-2027 has made two significant changes to the Animal Welfare eco-scheme. The first change increases the distance from which fattening pigs can come to be eligible for welfare payments from 50 km to 100 km, in response to agricultural organizations' postulates. This is aimed at facilitating access to the eco-scheme for farms without access to piglets from welfare sows. The second change reduces the conversion rate of fattening pigs to DJP from 0.3 to 0.1, in accordance with the payment degressivity mechanism. This change is beneficial for farmers and the development of domestic pig production, while not affecting the payment rates per 1 physical animal.
