Changwon persimmons start exports this year...to Southeast Asia and Canada by year-end

(Changwon=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Sun-kyung = Changwon city in Gyeongnam announced on the 30th that the export of Changwon persimmons has officially begun this year.

Changwon persimmons were exported to Indonesia on the 22nd and then to Canada on the 29th.

They are scheduled to be exported to Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Thailand by December.

The city plans to actively support the export of Changwon persimmons as competition for market share has intensified since Chinese persimmons entered the domestic market about two years ago.

To this end, a promotional event for Changwon persimmons will be held next month at five major markets in Hong Kong, which favors K-Food.

Gang Jong-sun, director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, "We will strengthen quality control and marketing support for Changwon persimmons, which boast the highest domestic production volume," and "We will make efforts to activate exports so that people around the world can taste Changwon persimmons."
