The USDA's April dairy product report shows a mixed picture, with cheese production seeing a year-on-year increase of 8%, but a month-on-month decrease of over 3%. Italian cheese production also saw a year-on-year increase of 7.4%, while American cheese production rose by 6% year-on-year. Butter production surged by 18.5% year-on-year, with a nearly 7% increase month-on-month, reaching a total of 185 million pounds. In contrast, nonfat dry milk production decreased by 4% from the previous year, and skim milk powder production fell by nearly 20%. Dry whey production experienced a slight decrease of almost 2%, while lactose production increased by over 3% year-on-year.
