(Cheorwon=Yonhap News) Reporter Yang Ji-woong = On the 30th, Cheorwon County, Gangwon Province, announced that it has secured a total of 10.7 billion won (3.2 billion won in national funds, 7.5 billion won in provincial funds) for the 2026 agricultural production base improvement project.
With this, the county plans to actively push forward four projects, including the safety improvement of farm roads, the reorganization of large plots in Hak 1 district, and the improvement of small drainage in Yangji and Igil districts.
The safety improvement of farm roads, which secured 3.2 billion won in national funds, plans to widen the width of farm roads from 3 meters to more than 4 meters to match the increasing size of farming machinery, aiming to eliminate the risk of safety accidents.
This will improve and upgrade major farm road sections such as Daemari and Daewilri to create a safe farming environment and increase farming benefits.
The remaining three projects are intended to prevent water supply damage and agricultural land flooding due to poor drainage systems, and will be carried out in collaboration with the Cheorwon branch of the Korea Rural Community Corporation.
Agricultural Policy Division Chief Shin Seok-cheon said on the 30th, "The budget secured this time in national and provincial funds is a very valuable resource for enhancing the future competitiveness of Cheorwon agriculture," and "We will push forward various projects without any obstacles to establish a safe and efficient farming environment."
