Turkey is the world's leading cherry producer and has seen a 4% increase in exports, reaching $209 million in the first seven months of 2024. The country exported 66 thousand tons of cherries during this period to 55 countries, with Germany, Russia, and Poland as the primary buyers. Turkey's annual cherry harvest is 736 thousand tons, with a significant share produced in the Aegean Region. The government supports the growth of cherry exports through various initiatives, with a target of achieving $300 million in exports this year. Turkey is also working to expand cherry exports to Asian and Far Eastern markets.
