A recent article highlights the signing of a significant agreement between Chile and China during the ninth edition of Chile Week China, aiming to broaden the access of fresh Chilean fruits, particularly cherries, to the Chinese market via third countries. This strategy is designed to enhance transfer times and fruit condition, with an additional accord expanding exports to include refrigerated meats and some frozen by-products, increasing the availability of protein sources for Chinese consumers. The success of these efforts is underscored by the surge in Chile's forestry and agricultural exports to China, which reached $5.444 billion in 2023, accounting for 30.5% of total global exports. The first cherry shipment of the season to China was also noted, marking a successful start to the season and showcasing the strong partnership between Chile and China in the agricultural sector.
