Chile has solidified its position as a leading exporter of dried plums, with significant shipments totaling 11,835 tons valued at US$ 40.7 million in just the first two months of the year, targeting key markets in China, Poland, and the United States. Throughout 2023, the country has exported 72,028 tons of dried plums, generating US$ 268.4 million in revenue across 83 countries. The Expo Ciruelas Secas 2024 event underscored the critical importance of maintaining high-quality products to meet the demands of major markets, particularly China, which hosts the world's largest dried plum shelf, while also catering to traditional markets like Mexico, Germany, Poland, and Italy. Pedro Pablo Díaz, president of Chileprunes, emphasized the stable demand from Mexico and the unique position in the German market, highlighting the strategic importance of these countries to Chile's dried plum export industry.
