In the first five months of 2024, China's coffee imports surged by 155.1% year-on-year to 109,850 tons, with an import value of US$490 million, up 104.3%. The average price per ton of imported coffee decreased by 19.9% to US$4,461. Despite the overall decline in average import prices, Vietnam and Ethiopia maintained stable prices. China sourced coffee from around 60 countries, with major suppliers being Brazil, Colombia, Vietnam, and Ethiopia. Notably, imports from Vietnam increased by 25% to 9.78 million tons, valued at US$31.63 million, an 80.4% increase, although Vietnam's share in China's total coffee imports dropped from 18.18% to 8.91%.
