China is showing interest in feeding crops from Kazakhstan, particularly peas and lentils, instead of wheat. This could potentially revolutionize the agricultural market, especially since China is currently the main buyer of Kazakh lentils. The demand for these legumes is on the rise in China due to increasing wealth and the consumption of meat and milk. Additionally, China is also interested in purchasing barley and rapeseed from Kazakhstan. In response, the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture is advocating for the diversification of sown areas, with a goal to decrease wheat acreage and increase oilseeds, fodder, and feed crops.
