In the first half of this year, China imported $11.1 million worth of wheat and rye-wheat flour from Russia, marking a 35.7% decrease from the same period last year. As a result, Russia lost its market leadership to Japan, which supplied $13.4 million worth of flour. China sourced flour from 13 countries, with France being the third-largest supplier. Despite Russia's record export of 1.1 million tons of flour in the 2023/2024 agricultural year, exports are expected to drop to 550 thousand tons this year, with major buyers including Iraq and Afghanistan.
