In the first seven months of 2024, Vietnam experienced a significant growth in agricultural exports to China, with the total export value reaching 7.04 billion USD, an 11.3% increase from the previous year. Despite this growth, the export of rice and pepper to China saw a dramatic decrease, with pepper exports falling by 85% and rice exports by 68.4%. Fruits, vegetables, seafood, cashew nuts, wood, and coffee experienced sharp increases in export volumes. However, China's import restrictions and the quality preferences of Chinese imporers have made it challenging for Vietnamese rice enterprises to compete in the Chinese market. The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association predicts that demand for pepper imports from China is likely to remain low in the latter half of the year.
