Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports have seen a significant increase of 33% in the first eight months of the year, reaching nearly 5 billion USD, as per the General Department of Customs. China remains the largest market, accounting for over 65% of the market share with expenditure of nearly 3.1 billion USD. There has also been a surge in imports from the US, South Korea, Thailand, and Japan, with growth ranging from 35-90%. The demand for durian from China has been a major factor in this growth, and the recent signing of a protocol with China for the export of frozen durian and fresh melon is expected to further boost exports. There has also been a notable increase in exports to Thailand due to improved packaging and product quality. With strong demand during the year-end holidays, exports are projected to reach 7 billion USD this year.
