China's fruit and vegetable imports have seen a significant increase, rising from US$2.8 billion in 2009 to nearly US$14 billion in 2020. The country's fruit imports, valued at US$12 billion, have more than doubled in five years, with Thailand being the primary supplier. The most popular imported fruit is fresh durian. Vegetable imports were valued at US$1.96 billion in 2020, with Canada, Thailand, and Vietnam being the main suppliers. Thailand has seen a 96% increase in vegetable exports to China in the first quarter of this year, contributing to a 16% year-on-year increase in the total value of frozen fresh and dehydrated vegetables exported by Thailand. Thailand has Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with several countries, including China, which is its most important market for these vegetables.
