In 2021, China's seafood imports rose by 12% to $14.2 billion, with Ecuador being the largest supplier and Russia the second largest. However, imports from Russia slowed down after a ban on Russian pollock ships. Imports from most major suppliers, including India, Norway, and the US, increased, but there was a 33% decrease in imports from Vietnam due to control measures. Meanwhile, China's seafood exports surged 15% to a record $21 billion, driven by higher exports to Japan, the US, and Hong Kong.
