The Council of Agriculture in Taiwan is taking measures to address the impact of agricultural drought caused by climate change, with a focus on 11 drought-sensitive crops, including tea, pears, and bamboo shoots, covering an area of 4,800 hectares. The strategy includes a regional crop rotation system, promoting water-saving technology, and building water diversion and storage facilities. This system, inspired by the 'four selections from three rice crops' policy, aims to encourage rice cultivation and diversify crops to reduce water demand. By rotating crops and introducing other crops and landscape crops, farmers are expected to see increased income and water savings, with the potential to reduce water usage by 20%.
