Climate change has led to an early ripening of vegetables and fruits in southern Ukraine, resulting in a 15-20% increase in yields. The country is experiencing faster climate change than the global average, with air temperature rising by 2° C over the past decade. This has allowed farmers to plant and harvest crops earlier, and adapt to drier conditions by focusing on more drought-resistant crops. However, the increasing temperatures are posing a threat to up to half of the world's plants by 2050, as they may not be able to adapt to the new climatic conditions. The article also highlights the challenges Ukrainian farmers are facing, such as the need for irrigation and the high cost of installing drip irrigation systems.
