Farmers in southern Ukraine have seen a significant increase in the yield of vegetables and fruits, with a 15-20% rise due to early ripening caused by climate change. The summer of 2020, which was the driest in the past 150 years, has led to the successful cultivation of crops typically found in subtropical climates, such as jujube, almonds, pomegranates, bananas, figs, and various citrus fruits. However, farmers face challenges such as protecting their crops from heat, drought, and lack of snow, and managing irrigation. With the climate changing faster in Ukraine than globally, there are plans to cultivate more expensive exotics in the region.
