Climate favors the planting of rice in Rio Grande do Sul

The sowing of rice is nearing completion in Rio Grande do Sul, with about 4% of the area still pending, according to the Conjunctural Information released this Thursday (25) by Emater/RS-Ascar. The institution warns, however, that part of these areas may not be effectively cultivated, due to planting outside the ideal period and the low prices practiced in the market. According to Emater/RS-Ascar, the crops are in the vegetative development phase, benefiting from recent climatic conditions. “The predominance of sunny weather and spaced rainfalls favored the initial establishment,” allowing for the adequate conduction of irrigation, fertilization, and control of invasive plants. In areas with superficial water restrictions, irrigation has been decisive in ensuring uniform germination and emergence, especially in crops planted later.
