In February 2022, Brazil's cocoa processing industry slightly reduced its grinding of cocoa beans by 0.1% compared to the same month in 2021, processing 17,484 tons. Despite this slight decrease, the first two months of 2022 saw an 118% increase in the total volume received compared to the same period in 2021, totaling 20,695 tons. This improvement is due to a better production season, following climate fluctuations of the previous year. Bahia continues to be the primary source of cocoa receipts in Brazil, with a 73% increase in February compared to the previous year. Exports of cocoa derivatives in the first two months of 2022 totaled 8,851 tons, marking a 5.3% decrease from the same period in 2021. The main destinations for these exports were Argentina, the United States, and Chile.
