In Colombia, transporting livestock is not a simple logistical procedure, as since Resolution 6915 of 2022 from the Ministry of Transport, a manual of procedures has been adopted that establishes how animals on foot must be moved on the country's roads. Although the regulation is clear and includes everything from documentation to vehicle conditions, the major challenge remains its compliance in a context where modernization is progressing slowly. The manual establishes that, to transport animals, the senders, recipients, owners, transporters, and drivers must comply with technical, road safety, sanitary, and animal welfare requirements. The responsibility does not fall on a single actor, but the entire chain of movement is obliged to guarantee decent conditions for the livestock.
