The Colombian palm oil sector saw a record production of 1.77 million tons of crude palm oil in 2022, and is projected to reach 1.8 million tons by the end of this year. This increase is attributed to good international prices and the La Niña phenomenon. Palm oil is becoming a major non-traditional export for Colombia, currently holding the fourth spot in agricultural exports. The European market is the primary destination for these exports, with the Netherlands, Spain, and Italy being the main recipients. The sector aims to have half of the producers certified in sustainability programs by 2025.
