In the first quarter of 2022, Russia experienced a 3.1% increase in commercial milk production, reaching 5.58 million tons, with agricultural organizations contributing 4.1% of this growth. The processing sector also saw positive trends, particularly in the production of high export potential products like dry dairy products and butter. Notably, the production of whole milk powder surged by 34%, skimmed milk powder by 18%, and butter by 11%. Additionally, the production of ice cream, cream, cheese, and dry whey also experienced growth. However, the stability of raw milk prices remains tenuous, influenced by factors such as demand, dollar exchange rates, and relations with Belarus. The start of fodder harvesting in Russia's regions is facing challenges due to adverse weather conditions, although the market for purchased protein feed has seen stabilization with some price reductions.
