In the 2024/25 season, amid a decline in gross harvest, France shipped only 1.5 million tons (including flour and cereals), 1.3 million tons below the 2023/24 level. However, FranceAgriMer estimates that France’s current wheat harvest will total 33.3 million tons (up 7.7 million tons from 2024/25), which is expected to increase the country’s export potential. Given the tense diplomatic relations between France and Algeria, where the European country has long been the market leader, and Morocco’s existing program to subsidize milling wheat imports (until December 31, 2025), one can expect an increase in French wheat imports both in Morocco and, for example, in Tunisia (85,000 tons shipped in July-August 2025/26, an absolute increase).
