The National Supply Company (Conab) is authorized to purchase up to 137 thousand tons of rice from the 2024/25 harvest, ensuring the minimum price for producers. The measure, which has resources of R$ 200 million, was authorized by the Ministries of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture (MDA), and of Finance. The acquisition occurs through the Federal Government Acquisition (AGF) and aims to serve states where the prices of the cereal are below the established minimum. In a statement, Conab says that the initiative is due to the drop in grain prices, a result of the good supply in the market. To serve the largest number of producers, Conab has set a sales limit of 189 tons per producer, equivalent to 3,150 bags of 60 kilos or 3,780 bags of 50 kilos.
