Due to the stoppage of the SAG and the consequences this is generating in the processing plants, mainly in the regions of Los Lagos and Los Ríos, which concentrate the largest production of meat at the national level, our cooperative, Coopcarne, expresses its deep concern about the seriousness of the situation that affects our main productive sector. As president of the cooperative, I want to express that this interruption not only puts at risk the supply of high-quality meat for the country, but also directly impacts the work and livelihood of the employees of the slaughterhouses, as well as their shareholders and owners and the entire production chain, including the producers. Meat production in southern Chile represents more than half of the national total, and its collapse jeopardizes food security and the regional economy.
