COP30: European Union is silent on its commitments, says civil society envoy

By Renan Monteiro Brasília, 10/13/2025 - The special envoy of civil society for the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), André Guimarães, recently lamented the "silence" of the European Union regarding its actions on the eve of the Conference. The European bloc has not yet presented its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), nor confirmed the possibility of contributing to the Forever Tropical Forests Fund (TFFF), which proposes a new financing model based on investment, not just donations. André Guimarães, who is the executive director of the Amazon Environmental Research Institute (IPAM), is currently participating in the preparations for the Conference with delegations from dozens of countries.
