Corn production in Mercosur is expected to grow by 8.2 million tons.

Corn cultivation is expected to register strong expansion in Mercosur in the 2025/26 crop season. According to the Céleres report, the planted area is expected to increase by 6%, with an addition of about 2 million hectares, reaching 35.1 million hectares. Argentina leads this growth with the addition of 1.4 million hectares, driven by the good margins compared to soybeans. Brazil also contributes, with an increase of 600 thousand hectares, driven by the demand of the domestic industry. With an estimated average productivity of 6.1 tons per hectare, the total production is expected to reach 214.2 million tons. In the optimistic scenario, this volume may exceed 235 million tons, setting a record crop for the bloc.
