According to the weekly analysis released this Monday (29) by the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea), there are no factors indicating a rise in value and the prices of cotton lint continue to fall. Last week, the current contract for lint on the New York Stock Exchange, with a maturity date in October 2025, closed with an average of US¢ 64.12 per pound-weight, a decline of 2.18% compared to the average of the previous week. Compared to the same period in September 2024, the contraction reaches 12.44%. According to Imea, the drop is a consequence of uncertainties in international trade, influenced by tariff disputes involving the United States. In addition, the expectation of a high global production has limited the recovery of quotations.
